Dear Sister,

For the past couple of weeks, I have been talking about what it means to think like a Queen.

As I shared before, in the work I lead and teach on archetypes, inevitably the Queen archetype is one of the most important and powerful ones that women come to embody.

To Review:

A Queen is a woman who believes in herself, treats herself with love and respect, and honors her own needs as valid, worthy, and essential. And in doing this for herself, she is at her best in the world and shines bright like a star... while others learn how they are allowed to treat her by how they see her treating herself.

Last week I shared the importance of speaking up and using your voice to ask for what you need. I shared about the art of having what I call Queen Conversations, which means sometimes saying the hard things, the vulnerable things, in order to express what you need and desire.

Because you are a Queen, and what you need and desire is valid and important (yes it is indeed).

This week I’m talking about what it means to RECEIVE like a QUEEN… because the truth is, even if we know what we want… ask for it… and then actually GET IT… it doesn’t mean that it’s easy to RECEIVE!!

The truth is, you may get EXACTLY what you asked for, but still find a way to sabotage it, deny it, or push it away. But it’s not entirely your fault.

Let’s face the hard facts for a moment….we have been trained by our culture, our family, our parents’ generation… that a woman’s role is to be nurturing and of service to our families, our communities, and to everyone else really. For the past several generations until very recent times, many women have learned that it’s most important to be givers.

And there’s nothing wrong with this unless we don’t know how to receive just as well.

But receiving can sometimes feel foreign, uncomfortable, vulnerable… yet it’s critical to learn how to truly receive if we are to embody our Queen energy as women.

When we truly receive and let life in to serve us and support us, we are filled with so much more energy, vitality, and love. A Queen loves to be of service, but she can’t do so if she’s running on fumes.
