Is Sensitivity actually a Superpower?
This is a question that I grappled with for years. Is my sensitivity really a blessing or a mean and awful curse?
I can tell you that for some, as this week has brought us face to face with a series of tragic and painful events in our country, being highly sensitive can seem like a curse. Perhaps you ask yourself... what am I supposed to do with all of the pain of the world? I don't want to feel it, because what can I possibly do about it?
Or perhaps you may have been a person that was deeply effected as a child by the pain around you, the emotions of others, and felt overwhelmed by that at such a young age. Perhaps you may still feel that way even as an adult.
And also, we are seeing more and more people deeply affected by the chemicals and toxicity in our world, from the foods, to the water, to our furniture, to our carpets, to the paint on our walls... to just about everything if we're not careful. Being someone who is highly sensitive to the rising toxicity of the world around us, can also be incredibly annoying and even debilitating at times.
Being highly sensitive can definitely be a source of stress and overwhelm for some of us. It can feel like too much to bear, or seem to be a burden for others around us. In this video, I share a bit more about my own journey of sensitivity, and how I have come to the place within myself of truly believing it is my greatest superpower... and I hope it is for you, too.
I know this video is a few minutes long, but bear with me...if you are a sensitive person (or you happen to be very close to one!), I know it will serve you.
From my (sensitive and powerful) heart to yours,
Laura
