Full Moon Wisdom... Lessons learned after finishing my book.

    Aug 08, 2017

    Welcome Full Moon!

Well, in this full moon time, I have just given birth….

Not to my son yet, he’ll be here soon too! But to another baby that has been gestating inside me for a long, long time.

This week, I finished my book: Reclaim your Power: A Journey through Archetypes to Remember, Reclaim, and Rebirth your True Feminine Power and Wholeness….

and it has been a very intense and beautiful labor indeed.

It is not yet available for the world to purchase, but I can offer you a sneak peak. I’ll be sharing as soon as it’s ready for those who want to get a copy.

I learned some powerful lessons and takeaways over the past month as I’ve been deep in this process of writing and birthing my creative dreams and visions for the world… so I decided for this full moon I would share those with you (forgive the length of this… but I AM in writing mode, as you know).

I have to be honest, it has not been a walk in the park. I have worked harder than ever before, nearly had a few big blowout fights with my husband (but gracefully saved ourselves each time with love, thank God), and my daughter has watched a few more nursery rhyme and Thomas the Train episodes than I care to admit… (bad mom guilt has come and gone a few times, yes)....

However, I am proud to say everyone is alive, happy, growing, and still deeply connected and loving each other around here… and that to me is a sign of something gone right, even in the midst of such a crazy time for all of our family birthing multiple dreams at once.

So… I’ll share my takeaways this Full Moon with you…

The full moon is a time of CELEBRATION. During the new moon, typically it is a good time for planting seeds and setting intentions… ask the question: what do you want to create? What intentions do you want to set for your creative dreams to unfold?

In the full moon, we celebrate and harvest what we have grown so far after our intentions are set at the new moon. We take stock of how and what we are creating in our lives (from relationships, to projects, to beauty, to businesses) and allow the illumination and energy of the full moon to help us see what needs to be see, and either celebrate our success, or change course if need be if we are creating things we do not want to be creating (like the opposite of our intentions).

For me, this full moon gave me something to celebrate… and it provided me the extra juice and energy to finally give birth to a dream of publishing a full length book on my work with archetypes and women.

When I found out I was pregnant with my son this past January, I had just set out my New Year's intentions for a year of massive change and growth in my business and in my creative dreams and intentions. To be honest, in those first 3 months of my pregnancy, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to pull off even a fraction of what I intended to do this year because of how weak and sick I felt. But luckily, my 2nd trimester brought with it a whole new world of energy and inspiration, and I stayed on track for continuing to create and birth the multiple babies that have been wanting to come through me. But it has not been easy…

Over the past few months, I have been in the midst of a total new website overhaul, writing 2 books (1st one down!!), and updating and renewing all of my programs and offerings for women. This has been on top of maintaining my current coaching clients, women’s circles, and program commitments. It has been full :-)

In the midst of all of this, I am releasing soon a new and improved pathway of for healing, empowerment, and leadership for women that is the culmination of all the years of my work… and it will be available for women all over the world. And I’m so incredibly proud and excited to reveal this all soon… in due time.

In the midst of this new life emerging in my business and creative expression,  I am also growing life inside me, and let me tell you… what a trip to be in the midst of both! Even right now as I write this, there is a foot digging deeply into my ribs making it quite hard to sit and write, and I think a little fist punching and pushing on my bladder. I have already had to get up to pee 3 times since beginning to write this, and probably will have to again very soon (stay tuned).

And… what I can say is that because I am devoted to having a healthy and beautiful pregnancy and nurturing a healthy baby above all else, being pregnant during this process has been such a powerful gift to ensure I am only staying true to the most important things in my life, and not allowing anything else that is not true to my heart take my energy.

This little boy has been a part of helping me create my destiny, and I genuinely feel we have been a team in bringing forth the next phase of OUR lives together as a family working together to create a better world for many generations to come.

Here are my biggest takeaways from the past few months of gestation… both of baby and my next phase of my work… I hope there are some nuggets for you, too.

    1. Be incredibly discerning with your energy.

When you are pregnant with something (a baby or an idea or vision) it takes everything in you to grow and nurture the new life inside. That is why we are exhausted generally in the 1st trimester of pregnancy, and can barely do much of anything except sleep and rest as our bodies are creating the environment for a new life to grow. When we are giving birth to a new vision or idea, we have to be incredibly discerning with our energy because sometimes it takes all we’ve got inside to get it off the ground.

We have to say no to the pulls on our energy that take us away from the goal and focus right in front of us. We have to know when we are allowing these pulls on our energy to compromise our goals moving forward. Being pregnant in more ways than one, I have had to say no a lot lately to the demands on my time and energy… I’ve gotten pretty good at it actually. I have made sure I have time for my family and my current clients/circles/programs, and that is truly right now the best I can do, nothing extraneous beyond my core commitments. And I’m OK with that for a season. I trust with all my heart that in this season of gestation and birth, this is what I must do in order to allow my creative visions and dreams to emerge fully, and to grow a healthy baby inside. And I have guarded my energy fiercely so that I can stay true to my most important priorities. We must do this if we want to see them truly take form.

    2. “Let me create THROUGH you”

In my time of prayer and meditation this past few months, there were many times I have gone to Spirit for more energy and extra juice, because it has truly taken all I have to not lose my s***, even given the above advice I just gave. I have been extremely discerning with my energy, and yet I also have to go to God, over and over, and ask that I surrender my will for Thy will in this work I’m doing. And the message I got from Spirit, from the essence of the Divine Feminine herself… what this: “You are not doing the work… I am. Let me create THROUGH you and as you. I will take care of this. You just keep showing up as a vessel for my love in this world, and I will help you every step of the way”  And let me tell you, that’s a welcomed relief. When I allow myself time to connect in prayer (which can be even just a moment of presence and honest reflection) with God/Goddess and ask the question: “How can I serve? How can I do YOUR work in this world?” and then I follow the guidance I receive, I find that I am used as a vessel for love and beauty in the world, and it is not MY work that I’m doing. It is God’s work. And in doing God’s work, we are given all that we need to bring it forth.

When I turn it into my ego and my own work, and forget why I’m doing all of this in the first place… I get exhausted and depleted. I feel resentful. I feel alone. The message I have received is,” Let me create THROUGH you” and when I can tap into and allow universal creative energy to move through my body to do my work rather than thinking it is all coming FROM me… I am able to do far more than trying to do it alone. Don’t get me wrong, it is still VERY HARD WORK… and birthing your dreams takes fierce commitment, discipline, and passion. But when we tap into this universal creative life force that is here for ALL of us, and ask how we are meant to be USED by it for the greatest good and healing of our planet, we can do anything we dream of doing. When we are tapped into our WHY and our CALLING from spirit, the impossible becomes possible. I have had to return to this truth several times over the past few months, in prayer, meditation, and my times in nature… and REMEMBER who it is that is really doing the work here.

    3. “The Goddess creates through her body, not her mind”

This was another message I got recently in a very special all day event I hosted in my home with the beautiful Sofiah Thom, called International Temple Body Arts Day. I had been writing and working for days prior to this event, and though I had been doing my regular walks and basic exercise to stay healthy, I had not been dancing and moving in the way my body really loves to move. I had a clear realization that in all that I’m doing, my mind is an essential and powerful tool to bring forth my dreams.

However, to really allow my full creative potential as a woman, I have to tap regularly into my body’s wisdom and be in a total state of receptivity and flow IN MY BODY as well. Dancing freely, floating in the water, gentle stretching… all these are ways that balance the intensity of my mind as I’m creating and thinking so much. The Goddess, the feminine, a woman…. literally creates THROUGH her body, and life forms and grows in her womb without her mind having ANYTHING to do with it. The miracle of life itself happens without our minds needing to run the show. This message was a clear reminder that I have to also be in total feminine state of receptivity, joy, ease, and flow in my body regularly as I create my dreams… and I will source so much wisdom and power from that place, as much if not more than I do from sitting and planning, writing, and working hard. To create a business and life that is authentically balanced in feminine and masculine energy (which I am committed to)... this is a vital part. Note taken :-)

    4. You have to ask for help to give birth to your dreams.

This has been yet again the most powerful take away from it all. And anyone who has birthed a baby (a vision or an actual baby) knows how essential this is to get help from your village around you. I teach often about the Queen Archetype in my work with women, and the importance of getting very confident, strong, and assertive around speaking our needs and asking for help (with love, of course). This is something that so many of us struggle with as women, and there is a deeply ingrained cultural belief that we have to take care of everyone else’s needs and sacrifice our own. I am fiercely committed to shifting this paradigm, and helping all women step into the confidence to take a stand for what they need to truly thrive in their visions and dreams.

I had to take quite a stand, over and over, for what I needed this past few months in order to birth my dreams. I had to tell my family, my friends, myself… just how much help I needed in order to stay vitalized and not burn out completely. And I’m still doing it, every day. If I don’t stand for myself, and truly get clear on what I need to be healthy and strong through this process, no one is going to do that for me. I must be the Queen of my Queendom, and in order to be the best Queen and lead my family with love, I have to ask for what I need to keep this mama happy and healthy. And we need a lot of help, my friends… we all do. We have to be confident to ask for what we need with love… and trust that we all deserve to be supported and nurtured as we birth our dreams (and families).

    -----------------------------

These are the most essential nuggets so far… and let me tell you, this process is not over yet. There are still a few labors to happen even before my actual labor of my baby in September. But I feel loved, supported, inspired... and ready to give birth to it all.

On this full moon... what of the above resonates for you? What is being illuminated in your life that you need to see so that you can either CELEBRATE the creative beauty coming through you, or is there a way you are being invited to change course to be more true to yourself and your intentions for your life right now? Perhaps it's time to ask for what you need? let yourself become more of a vessel? or guard your energy and say NO More often?

Let this full moon time be an opportunity for more awareness inside of you, whatever awareness is needed so you can truly birth the visions and life of your dreams.

Because you deserve nothing less, dear friend.

Thank you for being a part of this process with me… and I look forward to continuing to send you birth announcements as they come.

    With all my love,

    Laura

    xoxo
